Research methodology

How Local ADU Guide builds ADU research pages

The directory is built from official rule sources, public provider sources, permit-contact discovery data, and manual verification fields. Pages are only published when their source gate is met.

City rule sources

City rule pages require an official city, county, or public-agency source. Parsed fields include size, height, setbacks, parking, owner occupancy, fees, process notes, and official source links.

Provider discovery

Provider records can come from official preapproved-plan lists, public city-review pages, vendor-fair lists, permit-contact data, and provider websites. Discovery does not equal verification.

Publish gates

Rule pages need official rule data. Preapproved-plan pages need an official preapproved-plan source. Provider pages must preserve verification labels and avoid quote routing until consent is done.

Human review

Manual review fields track website evidence, license-check status, outreach status, confidence notes, and lead readiness. These fields determine whether a row can be described as source-backed.

What Local ADU Guide does not claim

The site does not provide legal, financial, design, or construction advice. It does not verify that a provider is currently licensed, insured, available, or willing to receive leads unless the provider verification process has explicitly completed those checks.
